Sarah's Sledding Accident

Saturday, Sarah was sledding in the neighborhood. As she was walking up the hill, she did not see a snowboarder coming down and he knocked her right over onto her arm, which twisted as she landed. She was in a great deal of pain. Despite her usual whining, BJ noticed she was definately being overly gentile with it and it was starting to swell. As I was finishing up my last minute Christmas shopping in Covington (about 15 min from home), he called me and gave me the bad news. In the worst snow/wind storm that Seattle has seen in 20 or 30 years, BJ met me with Sarah and I took her to the ER. It took us an hour to go about 15miles. To my suprise the ER was not very busy and they moved us to Rapid Care and we were out with a splint and a broken arm diagnosis in 2 hrs. It took another hour and a few stops to chip ice off of the windshield wipers to get home but we were finally home safe.
Wed, Christmas Eve. We headed out to get her cast on. We left ourselves an hour to get to the Dr.'s office because it was snowing really hard again. We made it almost all the way there without a hitch. About a mile from the office, the road was closed because of an accident. I decided to go through some neighborhoods to get there and had to make multiple turn arounds for people who think they can go out in a foot of snow in little 2 door sedans. We finally get there and we were a half hour late. It took us an hour and a half to get there. I wasn't about to go down the hill to the parking garage so we had to walk a little bit from the top parking lot but we had no problem getting out of there when it was time to leave. The cast artist, as I have dubbed her, was very fun and helped Sarah get a festive cast. We call it her Candy Cane or Christmas Cast.
